Kevin Brown

A Senior Partner with Hobbs & Towne, Inc., Kevin is an experienced executive search professional who joined the firm in 2003 to expand its burgeoning technology and energy practices. His 25+ years of executive search experience, coupled with his ability to connect with both clients and candidates, has been instrumental in helping Hobbs & Towne solidify its reputation as North America’s leading boutique search firm.

Kevin is adept at developing and expanding client relationships, particularly with early-stage, growing companies and their investors. As such, he has completed CEO and Board Director searches within some of the most rapidly expanding process industry companies, including those in the manufacturing, petrochemical, oil & gas, and power & utility industries – and then helped them build out their executive teams.

Strategically networked within the industry, Kevin founded and is Chairman of the Cleantech Alliance MidAtlantic (CAMA), and is a member of the Energy Advisory Committee of the Ben Franklin Technology Partners.

He serves on the Advisory Council of the Maryland Clean Energy Center and is on the Board of Advisors of a number of startup companies. In 2009, he was recognized for his work in Cleantech and Renewable Energy as a recipient of the Green Power Organizer Award from PennFuture, and was also featured on the Denver Business Journal’s annual list of Who’s Who in Energy.

Prior to joining Hobbs & Towne, Kevin was a Principal and equity owner of one of the fastest-growing Human Capital Management companies in the country. During his tenure, Kevin was a key factor in the company’s growth, helping it to expand from just 9 people to more than 750. He was consistently one of the top producers in the company and the youngest partner in the history of the firm.

Kevin studied Mechanical Engineering at Drexel University, and now lives just outside Philadelphia with his family, spending most weekends at one (or both) of his twin daughter’s sporting events. He is an avid cyclist, car nut, golfer, and competed in the Leadville 100 MTB race in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2019. Kevin and his children are supporters of the Cristo Rey High School in Philadelphia.

Ed Francis

Ed is a Managing Director in Client Services and works directly with clients on Learning & Performance consultation, curriculum design, organizational change, and measurement at Root Inc. 

During his career he was responsible for overseeing product development, operational performance, business results, and industry research. In addition, his work has included designing eLearning systems, workshop development, and leadership alignment. His clients have included Abbott Labs, American Airlines, Bank of America, Bayer, Boeing, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Hilton Hotels, MedImmune, Northrop Grumman, Novartis, Pepsi, Pfizer, TD Canada, and Star Alliance.

Before joining Root, Ed was in operations management, training, and consultation at FedEx Express, focusing on ramp and logistics operations, and with Walgreen’s Logistics. He holds a BA in Psychology with post-baccalaureate work in Biology and an MBA in Operations Management from the University of Toledo, and is actively pursuing a PhD in Psychology, focusing on learning and cognition. He has co-presented sessions on Learning Psychology at SHRM, and has published an article on the measurement of training effectiveness in California Management Review.

Ed lives near Austin, Texas with his wife, Carrie, and youngest son Grisha. Their oldest son, Zachary, is an aeronautical engineering in Colorado. Their second son, Jacob, is a software engineer in Washington State.

Rob Fromuth

Rob Fromuth has 40 years of experience in pharmaceutical technology and manufacturing. Rising through the ranks of DuPont Pharmaceuticals, DuPontMerck, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and Boehringer Ingelheim, Rob held senior executive responsibility for all aspects of supply chain, engineering and quality functions.

For the last eight years, Rob worked out of Germany and was accountable for manufacturing activities across the global Boehringer Ingelheim value chain. Rob led several successful culture transformations during his career. Overseeing more than 100 product launches in his career, Rob is intimately familiar with the technical, system, regulatory and human challenges that accompany major change in the Life Sciences industry.

A respected industry leader, Rob's favorite question is "what if a business could proactively assess its fitness to prevent unexpected bad news?"

Rob holds a BS in Chemistry from the University of Delaware.

Adam Shapiro

Adam was the Founder, Co-Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and General Counsel of Sequel Youth and Family Services 1999-2014. Additionally he was the Founder and top administrator of a national company that owns and operates residential and community-based programs for at-risk & disabled youth and their families.

Managed sites in over a dozen states and contracted with over thirty states, hundreds of local government entities and multiple non-for-profit organizations. He supervised over 3,000 staff and was responsible for strategic and long-term planning, legal and regulatory compliance, supervision of operations and financial management.

Joe Tempio

Joe graduated from Duquesne University with a BS in Pharmacy and attended Rutgers University where he earned an MS & PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences. He was concurrently a faculty member for two years.

A former registered Pharmacist, Joe worked in Pharma R&D for SmithKline & Successors in various domestic & international technical positions in pharmaceuticals & consumer health products.

He joined American Cyanamide Consumer Products heading consumer products R&D. Then he joined BioPharm a CRO where he helped to establish a new division focused on supplying out-sourcing services for dosage form development, clinical supplies manufacturing, packaging, storage & distribution.

Joe helped establish BioPharm's brand in the industry, & developed the vision, strategy, budget, marketing & business development capability. He participated in the buildout of new facilities & capabilities.

He joined Tunnell Consulting as a Principal and board member . In just 10 years he established and grew their life sciences industry practice to become  the primary focus of the consultancy, serving both industry & government.  Growing the business tenfold he retired as COO, CEO, & Chairman of the board in 2009. 

Joe & his wife, Judy, reside in Ambler, Pa and family is very important in their lives. They have three grown daughters, two married & nine grandchildren. They recently lost their son, David- who is survived by his wife & daughter.

Joe is an avid golfer, fly fisherman, & hunter. Joe is active at his golf club where he has served on several management committees and the board of governors.
